Instead of making a stand against your fellow US Citizens and wasting a TREMENDOUS amount of resources and intellectual capital(brain-power) on endless, mind-numbing debates, I'll offer a suggestion to resolve all of your bickering.
The next time you are about to argue with someone about your most frustrated political viewpoint, do this:
- Take a breath
- Sit down together with your adversary
- Agree to forget about the media hype and just keep "The Manual" in mind
- And try using this simple resolution method called the " 5 Why's".
Here's how it works (from Wiki).
The 5 Whys is a question-asking method used to explore the cause/effect relationships underlying a particular problem. Ultimately, the goal of applying the 5 Whys method is to determine a ROOT CAUSE of a problem.
Let's apply it to the following Problem:
American Taxpayers Are Not Getting a Fair Return On Their Tax Investment
- Why? The Federal Government Budget is Mismanaged
- Why? Because overall, we've elected poor, unqualified and self-interested managers to run our government.
- Why? Because average U.S. Citizens cast their votes with opinions based on media soundbites, political marketing campaigns, arguments based on emotional-appeal and idealism and/or are generally unaware of what to look for in a qualified political leader.
- Why? Because Americans overall have forgotten about the rules in The Manual, in which our Founding Father's CLEARLY outline what any qualified political candidate should be ready, willing and able to support.
- Why? Well, It all starts with Education. Since approximately 89% of American Children attend public schools, and working parents spend an average of 23 meaningful minutes a day with their children, it makes sense that the source of the problem lies there.
So there you go! It's not a perfect system, but it's a lot better than squabbling over the effects instead of the cause.
